Awards and recognition
National recognition for teaching excellence, innovation and impact in interpreting education.
Danielle D’Hayer’s work has been recognised for its contribution to teaching, learning and professional practice, most notably through the Advance HE National Teaching Fellowship awarded in 2023. Her approach brings together HyFlex learning, multilingual inclusion and communities of practice to create more connected and professionally relevant learning experiences.

National Teaching Fellowship
Awarded in 2023 by Advance HE, the National Teaching Fellowship recognises sustained excellence and impact in higher education teaching. For Danielle, it reflects long-term work in interpreting education that combines HyFlex pedagogy, multilingual inclusion and communities of practice to improve how students learn, participate and progress.
Her work has focused on creating learning environments that connect applicants, students, graduates, tutors, professionals and employers, rather than treating learning as something that happens in isolation. This approach has helped build stronger professional identity, confidence and continuity for interpreting students as they move through study and into practice.
The fellowship also recognises the measurable impact of this work. Her community-based model has supported 100% retention at course entry, increased participation in the Ambassadors Scheme, reduced resits after changes to assessment design, and contributed to higher distinction rates. It has also influenced practice beyond London Met through alumni networks, international collaborations and trainer development.
Other recognition
Danielle’s National Teaching Fellowship builds on a longer record of recognised teaching and academic leadership. Alongside national recognition, her work has also been acknowledged through institutional fellowship, academic leadership and wider contributions to interpreting education in the UK and internationally.

Across her teaching, curriculum development and wider professional engagement, she has sought to build learning environments in which students, graduates, tutors, professionals and employers participate in a shared process of development rather than operating in isolation. The impact of this work is visible not only in student outcomes and progression, but also in the wider influence of her models of hybrid learning, trainer development and professional partnership.

Continuing the work
For Danielle, recognition is not an endpoint but a reflection of long-term work in teaching, professional development and partnership. Her focus remains on building inclusive, collaborative and professionally relevant learning environments that support students, educators and institutions in the UK and internationally. This includes continuing work in interpreting education, trainer development, consultancy and cross-sector collaboration.
